This code is only JUST beta - it has only been tested on a two machines - a 486DX4-100/RedHat 6.1 with the stock kernel 2.2.12-20 and a P100/RedHat 5.2 with kernel 2.0.36 The tools used were ax25-apps-0.0.4, ax25-tools-0.0.5 and libax25-0.0.7 for the 2.2 kernel and ax25-utils-2.1.42a for 2.0 kernel. It appears to be OK on a single or both standard PC ports but the test machines only have the two serial ports on them - so again the testing has been somewhat limited. It certainly hasn't crashed yet but don't put any money on it being stable!! I've supplied Makefile and two scripts that load and unload the driver, these should give some idea of how to drive it - a read of the sethdlc(8) man page is required for further information. To make the module, just type 'make'. There is no install, just copy the xywmodem.o file to /lib/modules/[version]/misc and do a 'depmod -a'. The makefile may need a tweak for 2.0 kernels - I've not yet worked out the dependances!! Cheers Robin Gilks G8ECJ 28 Dec 1999 pp. for Andy Pevy G4XYW
